Welcome back to W.H.A.R. again everyone. I hope you enjoy the latest review/guide I’m putting up today. This time we’ll all take a look at Twister. Its not for everyone, it is for those dark Chosen Champions of Tzeentch and for their counterpoint, a Knights Of The Blazing Sun. Twister lets you do several things.

1. Easily “twist” 3 of your abilities.

2. Monitor the time remaining of the aura/buff

3. Re-apply your aura/buff

4. Set a hotkey to twist three with one button.

Now some addons have a lot of features, some necessary and some not. Twister has none of the bells and whistles you don’t need. It just has what you need to do a specific job. I was very impressed with how easy it was to set up. In under 2 minutes i was twisting 2 spells on a low level Chosen I rolled to test this addon.

1. Download and install Twister

2. Once in game you will see a small blue rectangular box with a black square box in front of it. Use the layout editor to move it where you want.

3. Right click the box and you should get a little window with 3 slots should pop open.

4. In that box there is a little entry area with a number. This is where you set your hotkey. I have my hotkey set to hotbar button 120. In your key mapping menu under the war button in game you can set hotbar button 120 to whatever you choose. I set it to activate it when I hit 0 on my number pad.

5. Play the game now, if you configured it correctly you should cast an aura when you hit your assigned button. After you cast one, wait for the cool down and hit the button again. You can also click the buttons on the new bar to activate one if you like. You’ll notice the icons will move across the bar relative to how much time is left on the canceled aura. The currently active one will be in the box. You should also take note, the background box will black out untill the cooldown is expired.

6. Experiment around with cast order, placement of the bar and your hotkey till you find something that works well for you. Come on baby, go twist
Pox

Welcome back to W.H.A.R. again everyone , this time we take a look at ISAssistTracker , a good addon for assist training and raiding.

One of the most effective ways to kill someone is to assist train them to death. It also plays a large role in how dungeons are run, and basically assisting helps you win. The following addon should help with that. Frankly a system like this should have been implemented from the start and made native to Warhammer.

ISAssistTracker lets you set who you would like to assist. If you are in a coordinated group or warband, the leader can set them for you. Its fairly simple to do once you get the hang of it, but it could use a little improvement assigning main assists and their respective targets.

First Install the addon and make sure you have libslash installed while you are at it. Once in game type /isat for a list of commands available and then type /isat options to bring up the menu.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3108/3177406025_86148b28ca_b.jpg

If you are in a warband but don’t want ISAT to send them messages, IE: pug warband – un check the Send/Receive updates box on the options menu.

If you are in a co-ordinated warband with others you can check the Send/Receive update box. This will send messages to your warband regarding assists such as those coming from Pox in the following image.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3120/3203243641_6d8266899e_b.jpg

You can see why it would be wise to turn this off in a large warband of people who are not working together as they might get sick of the spam every time you die or pick a target.

If you are the raid leader running a PVE instance or getting ready to assault a BO or keep you can issue a ready check with the button at the bottom right of the options window. There may be a way to macro this but I am unsure of it.

On your screen you should see 3 small icons. An eye,cross hairs and a mouth. The eye sends a message saying you are looking for a new target, you can look for one or your leader can assign one to you. The skulls and diamonds and other images help at this point. The cross hairs let people know you have a target and the mouth is a panic button. In pve and RVR especially this is important for your healers. If a healer has an enemy attacking them it says who it is and shows the person being attacked in a little panics window.

To assign someone to me an assist simply target that person and in the options window hit the + next to the position they should be in such and red main tank or red off tank.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3411/3194529392_fe88a2ee17_b.jpg

If you are the only one using this addon, pick some people to assist and assign them to a spot, all you have to do is click that spot then to assist them. Make sure comms are off for this if you are solo in a pug warband.

To assist that person just click their name on your screen (not the options window) under the title ISAssistTracker. Your target will change to theirs. To assign an enemy target a raid icon simply select the target and click the icon. If you have communications enabled and they have this addon it will appear for group mates. Note the messages telling people my target and to assist me.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3387/3204097240_55c0213a18_b.jpg

Once you have everything set up and figured out you can set a macro to have you assist any of the main assists. For assisting red you would assign the macro to a button or key binding etc. the macros are

Red MT: /script 	ISAssistTracker.AssistRedMT()

Red MT: /script 	ISAssistTracker.AssistRedOT()

Orange MT: /script 	ISAssistTracker.AssistOrangeMT()

Orange OT: /script 	ISAssistTracker.AssistOrangeOT()

Yellow MT: /script 	ISAssistTracker.AssistYellowMT()

Yellow OT: /script 	ISAssistTracker.AssistYellowOT()

Blue MT: /script 	ISAssistTracker.AssistBlueMT()

Blue OT: /script ISAssistTracker.AssistBlueOT()

The macro starts at the /

There is so much to this addon I cant go over it all, play around with it and work with your guild or group to use it effectively. There is a great set of instructions on the download page at

http://war.curse.com/downloads/war-addons/details/isassisttracker.aspx

It really is a great addon and should be a must have for guilds in particular. Yes there could be some improvements and it could be made easier to assign targets and mains. But as of right now its the best I’ve used and works well. There are a lot more things you can do that what I’ve spoke on. So try it out and have some fun with it.

Oh one last thing, to move the particular elements around use the layout editor that is built in to Warhammer. This will let you put everything in a comfortable place to use.

Welcome back to W.H.A.R. Again everyone. This week we take a look at two addons that work well together, Squared and ISHealBot . You don’t need to be a healer to enjoy the benefits of squared and its features, since there are other plugins for it that help you assist other players and hit panic buttons. This is one of those pesky addons where libslash is needed, so dont forget to install that also.

First install squared and ISHealBot (if you would like to click cast your heals).
Once in game, type /squared to bring up the user menu.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3321/3178203062_c27bed3c4b_b.jpg

There are many setting you can change , have some fun and play around. In its default state, it should work fine. You may decide to change some things. I was particularly fond of the debuff and H.O.T. Tracking and moved the indicators around a bit to suit my taste.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3354/3177372097_27307ee2cc_b.jpg

Squared includes a basic buff throttle with it and the default settings should work. You can increase the numbers to increase performance if you need. These settings are only for the squared unit frames. Its probably a good idea ( I could be wrong here) to also run BuffThrottle along with it.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3403/3177374807_e8016a0bca_b.jpg

Make sure Enable Range / Los fade is checked, a very nice feature.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3315/3178213316_f23861b1e1_b.jpg

If you screw something up and it doesn’t work well, just click the button that says “Reset Settings”. This will open a little box, in it click “Reset to Default”
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3111/3177379993_f659693301_b.jpg

IF you choose to use ISHealBot there will be a button to open its configuration menu.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3337/3177385375_d511ca99a2_b.jpg

ISHealBot is simple to use, decide on how you would like to cast a heal IE:shift + left click . You must use a left click since Warhammer doesn’t allow right clicking of unit frames (Would be nice Mythic). Now open your abilities tab and drag a heal to the corresponding combination. Heal away and make your realm mates proud .

Squared is a great addon. Its easy to use, user friendly and the settings are simple to understand and it works well. It was a very hard decision to decide to stick with Healgrid. It is very difficulty getting used to not having the HUD from Healgrid there with my icon and both friendly and hostile targets on it. They are two very solid mods and you cant miss with them. Maybe a future version will include a HUD similar to Healgrid’s. That would definitely make me convert, but for now I will stick with Healgrid. It has more features and the HUD I’ve come to love so much. Either way you cant go wrong so try one out and see which you like best .

     Welcome back from the holidays everyone. This review we take a look at Warhammer Scrolling Combat Text. I am always looking for something new to try and figured I would look for a replacement for the stock combat text (being the numbers and info that floats up when you do/take damage ). I was pleasantly surprised to see a version made by Grayhoof. This is the official port for Warhammer Online of SCT scrolling combat text from WoW.

     After installing via the Curse Client I loaded up Warhammer and , POW right in the face!! I had that same old familiarity I had from all that time playing WoW. I was happy, just in the default state my new addon was a LOT better than the original. I played and played with it and am convinced, Grayhoof’s addon is much better and more configurable than stock.

     From in game all you need to do is type “/wsct menu” to bring up the in game menu. Have fun and play around with different animations and configurations, if you mess up just type “/wsct reset” to set it back to the default.

     Here you can see the basic menu window http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3245/3117696481_d4e17c0946_b.jpg
You can have spells and actions appear as “crits” basically they hover and get bigger so they stand out. I only have crits set to appear this way. You can change the colors and more of the text from here. Make sure you select whether its for incoming or outgoing or a notification.

     Here is the animation page of the addon, have fun playing with how far and wide you want your test to spread out .
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3069/3118531516_6276d2fdf4_b.jpg

     This is the “frames” page. There are several frames and configurations for them. You can set where you want the text to start and what form you want it to appear in. I mean ,should it appear like a rainbow arc etc. These are the 8 different animation types : Vertical, Rainbow, Horizontal, Angle Down, Angle Up, Sprinkler, Curved HUD and Angled HUD

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3202/3117698573_c9ca2d1274_b.jpg

You really can’t miss with this addon. It works great, has great options and is easy to configure. It gives Warhammer a familiar feel if you used its predecessor in WoW and is a vast improvement over stock.

This week we’re getting a whole new audience, so to all the newcomers, welcome and I hope you find something useful here. Just a note about myself, I play a 35+ Bright Wizard (Nehkrot) and a Tier 3 Warrior Priest (Pox) on the Phoenix Throne server.

I’ve written a few posts describing addons and what they do. However I’ve been getting a lot of questions lately asking how to install them. There are several different ways to install, the easiest being using the Curse Client . This can be found at their site http://www.curse.com . The second way is to download the addons from a reputable site and extract the zipped folder into the correct directory in the Warhammer folder. I will explain both methods as you would find with a typical Warhammer install. If you differ from a “C” drive install you’ll have to make the changes on your own.

Method 1 – Curse Client install and setup

Make sure you have Warhammer installed and fully patched.

First go to  http://www.curse.com

Download the Curse Client and install it.

Run the curse client and sign up for an account, it’s free. One very important tip, DO NOT USE YOUR WARHAMMER ACCOUNT NAME AND PASSWORD.

Once you are signed into the Curse Client click→

Configuration →

Then click Game Directories →

Then click Set Warhammer Directory

This is where you tell the Client where the Warhammer game is on your computer. For most (not all) computers, Warhammer will be installed at C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Warhammer Online – Age of Reckoning This is the path you select so the Client knows where to put the addons.

With the Curse Client running there should be some tabs. One should say “Warhammer Online” and the other “Find an Addon”.

Under the “Find an Addon” tab select the particular addon you would like to install. Clicking the “See Addon Details” link will take you to the Curse website with details about that particular addon..

Now you just need to login and see how you like your new addon .

Method 2

This is the “Manual” method of installing an addon. While simple to install, updates are more difficult.

You will need an unzipping program such as Winzip or something similar to unpack the addons into the correct directory. I find it easy to download the addon straight to the desktop and extract it from there.

First find the addon you want and download it to a spot you will remember.

Extract , or “unzip” the addon to the Warhammer interface directory. IMPORTANT NOTE – Some installs of Warhammer Online do not have an interface directory, you would have to create one. (Curse Client does it automatically if needed) The directory you should be extracting to should look something like

C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Warhammer Online – Age of Reckoning\interface\addons

Run Warhammer and enjoy your new addons.

A quick note before we part. Many addons rare dependent on something else to work. One in particular is the “Libslash” addon. You can find it at reputable UI/Mod sites. If an addon is dependent on it then it must be installed to work properly.

I can’t stress enough proper safety procedures when installing third party software, you use mods at your own risk. Mods have sometimes messed things up, and you always take a safety risk when installing , so use the addons you choose to install wisely and safely.

Now this isn’t a cure all fix for all the lag or stuttering issues you may have. And if you have something like Squared or Healgrid they may have one built in for their own unit frames. But for the rest of you it may help. I’m not saying it will or it will be a miracle cure , but it might help. It helped me a little bit when I set my refresh to 1 second instead of the default .5 seconds.

First install the mod, note you do not need libslash for this one.

Then run the game, once you’re in game and on a character type

/script BuffThrottle.Verify()

This will tell you if it’s running

Then type /script BuffRefreshDelay = 0.5

This is how often the unit frames check to see the buffs etc… and what it should display. I set mine to 1.0 note the spaces in the above command, they should be spaced correctly.

Now play the game some and see if it helps, you can try adjusting the 0.5 to 0.75 etc.. and so forth. I’ve even had a reply saying 2.0 seconds has helped.

After a bit of rvr etc type

/script BuffThrottle.Ratio() the closer to 0 the more it worked the closer to 1 the less it worked in past 5 minutes.

Give it a try, it may help you and its a solid addon that has helped countless people .

Till later

If you’re like me you can get lost scouring your tome. I compare it to Wikipedia, one sec your looking up info on your city and 2 hours later you’re reading about a cannibal named Bob from Germany . It’s a fun thing to explore and kill a few minutes with. Now when I read about Tome Titan I was a little skeptical about how it would work. I figured it would be this complex overblown addon that hogs a ton of resources and leaves your computer chugging along like a Yugo. I was quite surprised to see its very basic and streamlined. It’s very easy to use and setup. Granted there are a few bugs, for instance once you are on the FAQ page, there’s no back button or a way to get back to the good stuff with a simple click. On the other hand, it was very easy to navigate. I wanted a new title, so I started looking at titles and tactics, which are arranged by zone which is awesome. I found one called “the infected” it was in nordland and not a far run from a warcamp. I followed the direction in the tome titan entry and 5 minutes later I had the title “the infected” proudly under my name . It’s a good addon, not great yet but its getting there. I’m sure with a few updates and some TLC from the community it can be a great addon for the masses. Thankfully they haven’t gone the overboard route and added a ton of map routes and unnecessary graphics. All in all, it’s a good addon to have , especially if you’re the adventurous type and like to discover all you can. As like most addons you can get it at curse and you will need the libslash addon for it to work.

Till I write again
